Smarty Pants
Posted By Bonnie 2 Comments »Even though Logan does not have too many vocabulary words under his belt yet, he still manages to use them wisely. Logan is still a picky eater and sometimes when I try to introduce different foods to him, he would just take a look and refuse it. However, he will say “No thank you Mommy!” and since he said it so nicely, I have no choice but to stop trying to convincing him to eat it. The other night at dinner when he wanted more bread, I told him to take another bite of his soup in order to get more bread. For the first time, he said “I did!!” with hand gesture too to argue with me that he did have a bite already. I went to pick up Logan from daycare yesterday. As we accelerated to get onto the freeway, Logan suddenly told me “Too fast Mommy”. (Stuart says he doesn’t say that to him)
Stuart and Logan will build a new train track every few days. It is fun to watch them build it together as they would talk about what piece of track to use. After they decided which one to use, Logan would say “I will get it” and he would go pick up the correct one and fit it onto the track. While Logan runs his trains, he sometimes likes me to sing the Chuggington (a train cartoon) theme song. When I asked him to sing with me, he often said “No, Logan plays trains”.
Also if he doesn’t want to do something we ask, he uses his old standby terms “Too heavy”, “Too hard”, or “I can’t”. One day we are gonna stop babying him……one day.
Three Month Old Connor
Posted By Bonnie 2 Comments »Connor turned three months old today; he is growing bigger and changing everyday. He is more engaging now, he will coo and smile on demand. He still spits up after each feeding, however he finally stopped crying after feeding which is quite a relief. He finds his fingers these days and enjoys sucking on them, but will get quite mad when he loses contact with them. He can’t lift his head yet while on his tummy since I keep forgetting to give him more practice. Connor continues to sleep in his swaddle over night; we hope to get rid of that probably in a month or two. He has some kind of bedtime routine now; he will go to bed at a similar time as Logan (around 8 something). He still wakes up once or twice a night, but the first block of sleep is a solid 6 to 8 hours. The most important change we are happy about is that Connor is no longer crying a lot in the evenings (previously 6-8pm was the witching hours). We can actually eat dinner all together now while Connor sits in his bouncer on top of the dining table. We hope that we didn’t just jinx this by mentioning it.
Mommy and Me
Posted By Bonnie 1 Comment »Connor does not like sitting in his car seat; more than half of the time he will be doing some major crying during the car rides. But he and I are still trying to get out of the house at least once a day. We often go shopping, usually just for groceries. Three weeks ago we tried out Baby Boot Camp. Connor did quite well at the first class; he stayed in his stroller the entire time with the help of the soothing pacifier. The next class was during a spat of three days of fussiness so he was crying most of the time. However, I ended up having a better workout while carrying this 16 lbs baby in the Bjorn and doing the routines. This week at the third class, Connor actually slept through the entire class. We plan on continuing the boot camp once or twice a week to give mommy some regular exercise.
Connor and I watched our first movie together yesterday. We met up with Delfina and Dario for a quick bite first. Connor decided to wake up right when I was ready for my sandwich and he cried almost the entire 20+ minutes. But once we were inside the theater, he was very calm. He drank and then sat with me to watch the movie, later on he needed me to stand up for some rocking before falling asleep for the remainder of the movie. There were probably only about 10 mommies with their kids at this Diaper Day movie and the other kids behaved very well. So everyone was able to enjoy this great documentary “Waiting for Superman”.
For my owner personal historic record keeping, my first movie with Stuart was Seabiscuit, and the first movie with Logan was “Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona”
Another Grumpy Baby
Posted By Bonnie 2 Comments »It was Logan’s turn to be grumpy this weekend. We started the weekend by going to Pumpkin in the Park in the morning with the Kaos. Unlike Mckayla who had such a good time participating in the children’s activities there at the park, Logan was not interested in any of them. All he wanted was his snack while riding in his stroller. He did enjoy watching the cultural dancing and playing in the toddler’s area for a little bit at the end. We managed to take a few photos and have a nice (yet whiney) picnic lunch there before heading home.
In the afternoon, we were hosting the Mommies group at our house. It was great seeing and catching up with Logan’s buddies and their families. Logan was very clingy to us, but he was fine playing and sharing his toys with his friends. However when it came to the kids group photo time, Logan suddenly threw an unusual tantrum, ended up crying big time for a few minutes and missing his photo opportunity. Connor did make it on the group photo though.
On Sunday, we did not have any plans, so we just hung out at the house and went for a walk to the nearby park. Logan was a bit difficult this morning according to Stuart; he refused to do any suggested activities and was not following directions as good as usual. Today we also hoped to have Logan try on his Halloween costume for some photos, but Logan did another crying tantrum and refused to put it on. We basically had to give up when he fell down onto the floor. I now worry that he may not get dressed up for trick or treat on Halloween.
One of the cute things this weekend was that Logan started singing the ABC song. He loves to use the handle of the jump rope as a microphone. I managed to capture his singing on video, now being posted on Video of the Week.
