Last weekend when we played tennis with the boys; it had been few weeks since we played together. The boys had their moments; part of the time, they did well especially when the two of them battled against Stuart and I. Later Connor suggested us to play an elimination game. The one who miss would be out and we gain points if both players on the same side got out. Both Logan and Connor stepped up a lot and they returned our hits very well. At the end, they even beat Stuart and I by getting to 5 points first. They were so thrilled that they came with a cheer afterward.
With the beautiful weather, we took a bike ride the next day. We decided to ride for 30 minutes and see if we could make it to the lake park. The route was very beautiful; by the 30 minutes mark, we were only roughly 5 minutes shy from the park. The boys played at the small structure for a little bit, then we turned around and rode home. Next time we could definitely make it to our destination.

Instead of good old walkathons, this year the school decided to try something different, Color Run. Stuart and I were not big fans as the run was organized by an outside company; they were all about getting donations and seemed too commercial. Today was the day and unfortunately it was scheduled to rain in the afternoon. Connor was quite excited in the morning, and both boys got dressed with the event T shirts for school.
When Stuart arrived at the school before the end of the day, the event just ended. With the rain, instead of having powder color, the kids were drenched with colors. Connor was proud to show Stuart how he was covered with colors. Logan participated in the run and ran many laps, but he chose to opt out on the colors and thus he stayed clean. Both kids enjoyed this run, and Connor especially liked it. He was happy to share with me that it took him a long shower to get all the colors off.

The weather was great this weekend, so we were eager to be outdoor. On Friday night when the boys were at the martial arts seminar, Stuart and I took a long walk around the neighborhood and school.
On Saturday we took a bike ride just locally. We are still trying to get us used to riding before we can build up to a longer ride soon. Next we also rode to the local plaza for Logan to get a haircut. Connor did not want to cut his hair this time as he wants to grow it longer.
We were thrilled that we had a nice Sunday to play tennis. Since the boys were invited to Maxim’s in the morning, Stuart and I decided to play then. We battled each other for quite awhile. We had over 10+ deuces in a few games before I finally lost to Stuart, 3:6. In the afternoon, it was the boys’ turn having a lesson with their coach. Stuart and I watched the end of it while they were practicing serving. They were getting their serves in sometimes now; soon we will be able to play real games with them.
In the late afternoon, I left to have dinner with the girls. We had nice drinks with many oysters. I was a little buzzed after the oyster shot, but fortunately we chatted and ate until I was fine to drive home.

We received a very pleasant surprise from Logan’s orthodontic appointment today; he was told that it was time to get rid of his retainer. This orthodontic journey of Logan’s went quite smoothly; it all owes to how great Logan dealt with the entire process. I had to look through old blogs to find all the important dates.
Logan started well with his first orthodontic visit on 7/15/17. He tolerated the separators between his molars and later with the metal bands around the molars. The toughest part was having the impression made as it took time and almost made him gag. Then Logan got the expander in on 7/28/17. On 10/11/17, the next phase was the braces on Logan’s upper teeth. He did extremely well dealing with all these metal pieces added in his mouth, and he never complained of any pain. After his crossbite corrected and his teeth strengthened, braces out on 4/16/18 and retainer in. Logan has been taking care of this retainer and cleaning it every day for the past 11 months, and he did not once lose it.
Tonight Logan kept telling us how weird it was to eat and talk without his retainer. Now he has a beautiful smile without any hardware inside for at least the next few years.

Connor was invited to the STEM workshop yesterday afternoon. The kids were learning how to build strong bridges with uncooked spaghetti noodles. While Connor was at the workshop, Stuart and I decided to take advantage of the moment of dry weather to play tennis with Logan. It was awesome being out there to get some exercise while hitting some balls. Logan did great; he and I did well battling Stuart. The harder Stuart hit the balls to Logan, Logan returned them with just the same intensity.
