We had planned for this remodeling, the biggest we have ever done, since the beginning of the year. We started with deciding what we wanted, looking for vendors, getting some quotes and booking them. We then slowly boxed up or got rid of some of our belongings in the house. We finally planned the process to begin after our trip to Canada. I had scheduled the painter to start on 6/11, the railings to be installed on 6/17 and the flooring to be placed as of 6/25.
We had decided not to re-paint the game room, master room and most of the ceilings. We took a couple of days to move things / furniture out of the way; Kevin and the crew took 4 days to finish the painting. He has to return for a day later to do the touch up and baseboards. We chose a lighter color Neutral Ground and the house looks cleaner and brighter.
Joey had been making the steel railings in his shop the past two months and came on 6/17 to install them. It took him 2.5 days to install and he returned for 1/2 day on Saturday to put the top wood piece on. I am very happy with the finished product.
The following Tuesday the flooring project begun. Before that, all four of us moved one set of the sofas, the dining table set and the guest room furniture to the garage, and my office furniture to the game room. Monday night, we moved the boys’ things to the game room where they had a slumber party for the night. Jose and the crew came early Tuesday and did the carpet replacement in all the rooms upstairs and the hallway and part of the stairways in one day. We paid for the furniture moving for the master bedroom thus we did not have to worry about those. On Wednesday, Connor and I quickly moved the family room couch and kitchen dining table set to the backyard before they began to demo and later to install laminate flooring on the entire downstairs. The crew worked very hard and very long day until 6-7pm every day. Those nights we had our dinner in the backyard while they finished up. By Friday early evening, their job was completed. The new floor made the house looks modern and clean, and we love it.
Within the next couple of days, we slowly dusted and cleaned up, and put back part of our things. The boys helped with a big job to clean the kitchen cabinets. Now we just have to wait for the painter to return to wrap up this entire remodeling. It was definitely hectic the past few weeks but everything went well as planned and smoothly. We are very happy with the cleaner and cooler house now.
