Chunky Connor

Yesterday I took Connor in for his 2nd flu shot.  I went to pick him up from school at 4 in the afternoon, but unfortunately he was taking a nap.  So I went to spy on Logan for a bit.  It was yard time for Logan’s class; initially I could not spot him until his teacher signaled me that Logan was in the play structure.  He was crawling under the structure while being chased by a teacher.  Then he was circling around the structure with one of his friends.  He can run quite fast these days.  Later on, he just continued to run in circles, but just a bigger circle.  Occasionally he would stop by one of his friends like he was talking with them.  It was fun to see how he is at school.

image  Back to Connor…I took him to my work at Campbell to get the shot.  He was in a good mood as usual, smiling to my friends to say hello.  I got his pants down ready for the shot.  The injection happened very quickly and Connor was just looking around checking things out.  No crying at all, not a single tear drop.  What a brave boy he was!  It must have been the big thigh muscle that masked the pain.  After the injection, we continued to go around the clinic to say hi to people.  He was good while being held by several people as long as he could see me.

Connor has been eating well, liking most of the foods I offered.  He has had peas, sweet potatoes, squash, avocados, pears, green beans, bananas and sweet potatoes/broccoli mix.  His favorites so far are avocados and green beans.  He is not a huge fan of sweet potatoes/broccoli, and he totally disliked pears after trying 3 separate times.  I have planned a whole line up of foods for him to try, like papaya, yogurt, cottage cheese and tofu, but I have to obey the doctor’s advice to wait a few days between each new food.

Early Risers

Both of our kids are early risers.  Logan usually wakes up 5:30 to 6am every morning.  He will call for daddy until one of us go into his room, and he will ask for toys so we can play together on his bed.  He is so wide awake that he always refuse to lay back down.  It is usually Stuart who goes to Logan, but when I go in place of Stuart, I will try to play with him while laying down to catch a little more rest.  We usually wait until at least 6am before we will leave his room and Logan will get very excited to watch TV.  Connor is up around 6am too, possibly waken up from imageLogan’s calling sometimes.  He is also totally awake.  He often will play by himself without making much noise, so I can stay in bed a bit longer before going to get him.  Even after drinking milk, Connor will not go back to sleep.  He is just very happy to be up and happy to play with his toys at this early hour.

Besides waking up early, Logan has not been a good sleeper either.  Since pacifier was taken away, Logan is up once over night may be 1/3 to 1/2 of the time, but he has been doing that every night this entire week.  He will return to sleep after Stuart gives him warm milk.  We now worry that Logan is enjoying the cup of warm milk too much that he will continue this pattern.

Connor also has one or two wakening the past 4-5 nights.  But for him, it must just be due to teething.  With his first two teeth, he was doing this for a few days until the tooth showed up, then he returned to sleep through the night again.  We are now just waiting to see tooth #3.
