We started this weekend with a fresh haircut.  Logan’s hair grows very fast.  His hair had gotten quite long lately, but he had looked still very cute with it last week.  However, it suddenly became too long and uncontrollable.  Connor still does not have too much hair, it is quite spare on the sides and on the back.  But the top was long and a bit messy.  So we decided that it was time for Connor’s first haircut.  Both boys came out of the salon with great cuts.  We especially like Logan’s cut this time; it is short on the sides and still long enough in the front to be cool.  Connor looks so clean and neat with his new look now.

    Saturday was a popular day for celebration.  We could only commit to two events and had to decline two other celebrations.  We went to my work summer picnic gathering in the afternoon which was not too exciting, but the boys managed to have some fun, jumping on a trampoline and playing some ping pong.  Then in the evening, we went to Buca Di Beppo for Robert’s birthday dinner.  We had a wonderful meal and a great time catching up with Julie, Robert, Ashlyn, and some of their friends too.  The boys did well even though they stayed up over an hour passed their bedtime. 

     On Sunday, we went to check out a Silicon Valley Duck Race.  It is an annual event at Vasona Park.  We decided to get some exercise by parking far away and hike by the creek to get to the event.  We had fun walking through the festivities there and had a good picnic lunch.  There were many kiddie game booths.  Logan was shy initially as usual until we built up his confidence, then he had fun trying different games.  After a couple hours there, we decided to leave before the 15000 rubber duck race, so we could hike back and take the kids home for nap.  I guess I should check online to see if our sponsored duckies made it to the top 20.

The drives to and from school have been fun.  A few days ago while Connor had his arm hanging out of his car seat, Logan agreed to touch his fingers after my suggestion.  Connor of course giggled as he usually does when Logan pays him attention.  Logan liked that reaction, so he continued to do that for awhile.  As a result, I had two laughing children in the back.  Yesterday, Logan kept saying “Connor, watch!” as he made a loud roar.  After watching Logan, Connor started spitting.  Logan immediately told Connor “No spitting, spitting in the sink only!”.  I explained to Logan that Connor was just trying to learn making noise like he was, so I suggested to him to show Connor something else instead.  Then on his own, Logan told Connor “say Mama”.  We had told Logan a few days ago that we needed to teach Connor how to talk, and I guess he remembered.  After a few repeated requests from Logan and I, Connor actually did say “mama”.  Today, Connor started crying as I put him in the carseat after school.  While I was still strapping him down, Logan tried to help calm Connor down by holding his hand and talking to him.  What a big brother Logan is now!

Logan still does not show too much affection toward Connor.  He is good in making sure that Connor has toys to play, but when Connor gets close to or touches him, Logan will complain or move away.  We have considered bathing both of them together for a while, but we did not think Logan would agree to it.  Even for riding in the wagon, it took some convincing before Logan agreed to be the captain of the ride.  We decided to ask Logan anyway a few days ago to bath together with Connor.  As expected, Logan said no, but his response was surprising, he said “because I am shy”.  It was funny!  But for some reason, Logan said yes tonight when Stuart just causally mentioned it.  The bath did not last too long since Connor got tired of it relatively quick.  However, Logan seemed to enjoy having Connor there and asked to try it again. 

     Stuart lowered the crib for Connor yesterday, and the timing could not have been any better.  Connor suddenly woke up at 1am this morning.  He had not done this since we sleep trained him.  He did not cry, he just sat up and played.  He got hold of his hair brush on the stool next to the crib, and kept banging it on the bed.  He was playing by himself for about 10 minutes.  Because of the noise he was making, neither Stuart and I could return to sleep.  I was hoping that Connor would get tired quickly, however, he decided to push himself up and then stood up on his bed by himself for the first time.  He then started to try get our attention by calling out (in his non-verbal way).  He was getting louder and louder so I finally had to go attend to him.  

     Connor is also more active at school too.  Yesterday when I got to school, he was in a rocking horse in the toddler’s playground.  He was sitting there watching the bigger kids tossing a ball.  As soon as he saw me, he was so excited but did not know what to do since he could not get out of it on his own.  It was an adorable scene!  And today I was told that Connor made it up to the baby climbing structure in his room. The teachers mentioned that he has been eyeing the structure for the past couple of weeks, and he finally made the move today.  He climbed up all three steps to the top, and was trying to crawl up the sloped side when I came to see him.
