Logan does not play with Wii as much lately, and if he does, it is only Mario Kart that he plays now.  He is into Stuart’s Tablet these days.  Logan knows that he only gets to play with that on the weekends; after breakfast in the morning, he asks to be excused from the table and sneaks into the bedroom to find daddy to play.  Stuart had downloaded several kids games for him, and Logan will sit on our bed happily for at least 30 minutes to the play the different games.  Last weekend, Logan was introduced to a Lego XBox game and he likes it.  By today, Logan seems to have learned how to use the XBox control quite well, able to maneuver the character.  He is not able to advance the character too far on his own; when he gets stuck, he will ask Stuart to help him move on.  However Logan really enjoys moving the character, making him jump, climb and moving the cowboy’s whip.

     Stuart practiced putting up the new tent this afternoon to get ready for our upcoming camping trips.  It is a huge tent; it will definitely be very roomy for the four of us.  It was hot inside, but the boys still enjoyed themselves running around being silly.  Logan had received a sleeping bag from the Changs for his birthday last year.  So this weekend we purchased another kid one, so the boys will have their own sleeping bags.  They were excited with the idea of having a sleeping bag, and were playing with it yesterday, but not sure if they will actually sleep in it.  We have considered doing a trial run in our back yard one day, or we might just wing it.

     After we returned home from school today, the boys stayed in the front yard with Stuart while I brought in and put away our lunch bags.  When I came back out to the yard, both boys were already on their bikes, ready to go.  Stuart filled me in that they were motivated by able to see the neighbors kid down the street.  Logan was hesitant but with some pushes from Stuart, he was on his way.  As soon as I walked to Connor, he started walking his balance bike and making progress.  The two other times when I tried to get Connor on this bike, he declined both times but finally agreed once to ride as long as I pushed him.  So I was very impressed with his initiative this time.  He waddled himself down half a block to meet up with the other boys, then turned back and waddled back to the house.  He seemed to enjoy it.

     When I arrived at school for pick up today, the first thing Logan told me was that “I rode my bike!’”  He was so excited and so was I.  After having a bike day once a week the entire summer camp last year and the past two weeks, Logan finally used the bike.  I confirmed it with the teacher who was excited too; she said Logan rode a little awhile and she needed to give him just a few pushes.  Logan was glad to share the news with Daddy too when we returned home.

     During the summer camp, Logan has water play most mornings of the week along with one special classroom activity every day.  Bike day is every Monday afternoon.  They have a school wide performance every Friday; so far, they had an insect show and magician performing.  All the students have to wear their school shirt on Fridays.  Logan’s shirt is getting too short for him, but I guess he will have to make do for just five more wears before he switches to a new school.

    When we were at soccer yesterday, Logan wanted me to be with him, so Stuart had a chance to relax on the picnic mat.  Connor did not want to come play with soccer at all this time, just wanted to hang out on the mat too.  Logan was quite energized and goofy at times; he did follow the instructions most of the times.  During one of the drills, he was supposed to kick to one of the girls, but he kept kicking to the other one instead.  I did not know if he had poor aiming or he was just being silly.  Logan kicked well overall until the last kick of the practice that he suddenly had enough and did not want to finish up without some convincing. 

    I seldom have to take care of the two kids by myself, and today was the longest that I was on solo duty.  Stuart had to help Scott out at the Obon Festival starting at 11am.  I decided to take the boys out at 10am when we were ready; we went to Toy R Us to look at toys and to pick up some kid clothes for presents.  The boys and I had a good time looking around for a long time; the only hectic time was keeping the boys nearby while paying for things.  We then went next door to Target for a few more things.  At the end we went for a quick lunch at the “nuggies station”.  We even had to take a family trip to the bathroom for Logan to do his business.  It was definitely a chore keeping everyone’s hands to themselves while inside the stall.  After the entire three-hour outing, we returned home and all took a nap.  When Logan woke up, he told me that he dreamed about sleeping with daddy .

    Logan was so excited to go to the festival and to meet up with daddy that he asked to wake Connor up (who was sleeping for >2 hours).  We finally arrived at the festival after a long walk from where we parked our car.  The festival seemed to have a very good turn out this year.  The taiko (Japanese druming) had started, so I decided to let the kids watch that before meeting up with Stuart.  I managed to carry the 70lbs total weight so the boys could see the show through the crowd.  We then went inside the crowded food court to find Stuart and to see hello to other people.  Stuart was able to be excused from his duties, and spent the rest of the time with us.  We sat down to have some food before going to the game booths for the boys to play.  It was so crowded and warm that we felt tired after just over an hour, so we left to wrap up the busy day.
