We have been asking Logan to write two thank you cards each night for the presents they received.  Logan is not excited to write them, but usually agrees without need for much encouragement.  To my surprise, he spends quite some times drawing on each card after I help him with the words.  Here are some of the cards.  I think he just has one more to write.

Just decide to measure the kids’ height and weight today.  Here are their percentiles based on a website.

Connor:

your child is 42 pounds, and that is at the 96th percentile for weight.

your child is 40 inches, and that is at the 73rd percentile for height.

Logan:

your child is 46.5 pounds, and that is at the 67th percentile for weight.

your child is 47 inches, and that is at the 90th percentile for height.

     Logan was excited to pick up his eyeglasses today.  He actually left his Xbox game quickly to go when Stuart suggested it to him.  Logan was happy with the eyeglasses after picking up at the optical dept and wanted to wear them right away.  They were reading license plates and street signs during the drive home.  Logan also wanted to wear it during dinner and while he was writing thank you cards.  Stuart and I are happy that Logan loves them but we’ll see if the novelty wears off.

     Stuart decided to take Logan to the Star Wars exhibit at The Tech today.  We knew Connor would be sad to be left out, so we ended up going all together.  We parked in a downtown lot and took a walk to the museum.  We started at the Tech museum first before our entry time into the Star Wars exhibit.  The boys enjoyed playing with some hands on displays.  Logan was quite intrigued with the light and shadow ones and we often had to move him along.  I caught a video of him playing with a water one which fascinated him for a long time. 

    Then it was time for the Star Wars exhibit.  The hall was dark and with a crowd, so we held on to one kid each while we browsed around.  From the game and the movie, Logan was familiar with many of the characters.  He was mildly interested while looking around at everything.  He seemed more into the video displays than the vehicle models or props.  Connor looked around at everything and was more attentive than I expected.  Toward the end of the exhibit, both boys started to get hungry for snacks, so their attention was taken away for a bit. 

    After the exhibit and a snack, we returned to the Tech museum to check out the other part of the museum.  The boys enjoyed playing with the interactive displays.  They had fun at the rollercoaster simulator, and we even stepped into the earthquake one to experience it.  It was definitely time to leave after two and a half hour of walking around.  Both boys were tired and needed to be carried part of the way walking back to the parking lot.  Logan was so happy leaning on Stuart’s shoulder for this unusual treat.

     Stuart was working on January 2nd, so I took the boys to meet up with Rohan and Vrinda at the Oak Meadow Park in the morning.  The boys were excited to see each other, and they immediately started running around the structures with their swords.  Connor played very well with the big boys; he totally looks like part of the gang now.  Logan and Rohan were nice to him too; they often would go get him if he fell behind or if he was in a different part of the structure.  It was fun watching them play.  Once Rohan was sad with something, he went to the boys to explain.  The boys chatted among themselves, pointed and looked over to us at times and back to chatting.  A minute later they started running and all smiling again.  Nice to see that they were able to resolve the problem and make each other happy.

     We switched gears to ride their bikes.  Connor hopped on quickly and started paddling.  By the time I helped Logan, Connor already had a head start following Rohan.  Logan was still hesitant to go fast, so I felt the need to be near him in case he needed a gentle push.  But I was worried how fast Connor was going and if he would stay on track.  Apparently Logan felt the same way, he told me “Mommy, go follow Connor, I will catch up”.  However I ended up staying with Logan as he needed occasional shoves and Connor appeared doing well following Rohan.  We did two rounds around the field and Logan was done.  Connor did an excellent job riding.  He initially wanted to continue but decided to stop too so he could play with the big boys again. 

     After two hours at the park, we went to grab a quick lunch together.  The three boys were happy to sit together.  They played while they ate the sandwiches and they shared a big cookie afterward.

    In the afternoon, I took the boys to the library to get more books.  They played at the playground next to it afterward.  They ran around a lot again.  By dinnertime, Logan told us that he was so tired that he could go straight to bed.  Later he asked for only two books instead of three for bedtime reading. 

     It was a tough 2013, and we were happy to let it pass.  Dora and I planned to stay up past midnight, but Stuart did not think we could manage as we often fall asleep earlier.  We prepared with lots of snacks; we ended up watching two videos, and stayed awake until 1:30am.

    Today we went to the park for some exercise.  We continue our effort to get Logan on the bike for more practice.  He was riding fine, but was very worried to go fast at all.  Connor was doing great riding Logan’s old bike.  He did complain about his bottom hurt after a couple of rounds but he did not mind to keep going.  After biking, the boys played at the structure, and the three of us took turns playing with our new speedminton set.  It was fun and we got a little exercise from it.  The boys later did some soccer kicking too.

    For some reason Dora’s late afternoon flight got cancelled, but she managed to get changed to an earlier flight and flew home.  After dropping Dora off, and after nap, we decided to put away Christmas decorations as suggested by Connor.  He had been asking us to do that since the day after Christmas “Put away Christmas decorations…Christmas is over”.  Logan on the other hand was sad to see the tree go and wanted to hang on to the Christmas festivities a little longer.
