We ended the boys’ swim classes at AVAC with the last one yesterday. We will soon be spending the summer swimming at a local cabana club.  The boys had enjoyed their time at AVAC but they were more excited with the idea of swimming with us instead.  Since Connor started the lessons in Feb, Logan had become more interested in going to his session.  He is slightly more comfortable in the water now and is more willing to put his head inside.  But he was still only making mini steps over a long period of time.  The instructor tried to get Logan more comfortable to float and worked on his form.  Connor loved Mondays the past three months due to the swim class, and he really liked his teacher.  I did feel bad ending it for him, but honestly he had not made that much progress either as he was also nervous in water.  He had started to put his face in water, and he was proud to tell us that his face was in water for 10 seconds (as he claims). 

    I will miss some bonding time with the boys too.  Even though it could be slightly hectic at times to change the boys, I had some fun solo time (10-15 minutes) with each as their classes didn’t completely overlap.  I had been bringing workbooks and they both enjoyed doing it with me while eating snacks.

    This was the awesome book written by Logan Brown.

   It was the last game of the season yesterday.  Logan was excited for game days and he played the same way as usual.  If the ball was given to him, Logan would drive it up to near the basket.  He either passed it to his teammates or tried shooting the basket.  He did not make any baskets yesterday but he did try a few times.  On the defense side, Logan still needed more practice.  He was blocking his opponent fine, but he did not want to get underneath the basket to try rebounding.  He often stood on the outer court and did not seem prepared to receive the ball.

    After the game, the team regrouped outside the gym to pick up their snacks.  The coach gave them a little speech and awarded each kid with a basketball medal.  Logan was so happy and proud to have the medal.  They took a group picture, then we all parted our way.  We hope to see them again in June at next season.

    From the coach, we also received Logan’s individual and team portraits that were taken few weeks back.  The team picture was not as cool since only five teammates showed up for the picture that day, but the individual one was nice.  I especially love Logan’s first trading card! 

      After the spring program yesterday, I took Logan to his six-month follow up eye exam.  I have been worried for his eyesight as he has been complaining of things being too blurry.  Logan did not mind going to have his eyes checked; he actually enjoyed the visit.  He drew on the registration sheet in the waiting room until he was called.  He followed the instruction well for all the exams.  My fear did come true that his vision has gotten worse and by three steps.  The optometrist reported that the worsening is part of the growing and is not uncommon, but the degree of his worsening was on the upper limit.  She gave Logan a new prescription and suggested that we consider seeing the pediatric optometrist for some therapy. 

    Logan was excited to look for new frames.  He tried on several pairs, and he would say “I love this one” after a few of them.  At the end, he ended up choosing one that was the same brand as his current pair. 

   It was Logan’s turn today for the spring performance.  He was excited about it and kept reminding us that we had to be on time for it.  Connor wanted to come watch it too, but since the show was during his nap time, we convinced him that he could watch the videos we would record for him. 

   Stuart and I both arrived at school in good time, then all the parents situated in the cafeteria to wait for the show.  Right on schedule, the kids marched in quickly onto the stage and they all wore their full uniforms along with a scarf.  Each kid presented a line introducing a continent before they sang a song about it.  Logan did well with his line; he was loud and clear that we had no problems hearing him in the big cafeteria.  Throughout these presentations, Logan has definitely showed improvement.  Now he sang with the class and he was right on queue with all the movements and positioning.  They sang many songs and they did a square dance at the end.  The show was very entertaining and it was quite long, over 20 minutes.  When the performance was over, the kids were excused to sit down on stage and they all looked more relaxed then.  Logan even moved down a step to sit with his buddy; he was laughing with his friends too.  The headmasters made an announcement that there was a competition awhile back and the teachers had chosen some winners for the “Young Author” and “Young Artist” awards.  They announced the first, second and third winners, and the kids came up to shoot hands and hug with the headmasters.  We cheered for all the winners. 

    Then everyone was invited back to their classroom to see the kids’ work.  They each had written their own nice story book with illustrations.  Stuart read Logan’s book with him while I took some pictures.  I still have to read the awesome book but we left it at school by mistake.  We looked around in the classroom a little bit more before we left.  Logan was happy to be signed out early before the school day was over.
