Spring Concerts

The boys had their spring concert on Wednesday morning, and I took time off to attend.  Stuart unfortunately had many meetings that day, so I recorded some of the songs for him to watch later.  Logan’s class had also been learning how to use the recorder and performed a few songs with that as well.  Both grades did great.

New Refrigerator

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on New Refrigerator

A few weeks ago, our old refrigerator’s water dispenser periodically stopped working, so we knew it was time for a new refrigerator.  We went to shop for one at Lowes.  Unfortunately the one we wanted was out of stock and discontinued; we ended up getting a newer model and it was not available until few weeks later.  For those 3 weeks, we were worried that the fridge would break down before the new one arrived.  Fortunately it made it and retired when the new one was hooked up on Monday.

Golfing on Mother’s Day

image    The boys gave me the gifts they had made at school for Mother’s Day.  They both were proud and happy with what they wrote for me.  I love their creations.   After our morning routine, we took the boys out to a short 9-hole course for the first time.  The weather was beautiful and after a small bucket to warm up at the range, we walked up to the course.  It was not too busy; we basically did not have to wait long and no one was behind us.  The boys did well following the rules, and they seemed to pick up the game quickly.  Logan was not as patient, he set up quickly and hit, but he had some great hits, especially on the fairways.  Connor took his time setting up and made some awesome swings.  He later did even better with the driver and he loved using it.  By hole 7, Logan started mentioning being tired, but Connor said he was not tired at all.  They both finished all 9 holes and did an awesome job in our opinion.  Their hits were quite straight and they did not lose a single ball while I lost two.  We all built up a good appetite but unfortunately had to wait quite awhile for our burgers at the clubhouse.  Afterward at home, I, but none of the others, was exhausted, and I fell asleep while watching the Warriors game on the computer with Stuart.  This was a great Mother’s Day for me.

Saturday Tennis and Dinner at the Kaos

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on Saturday Tennis and Dinner at the Kaos

It felt like a long time since we last played tennis, and it was definitely tiring as well when we played on Saturday morning.  Stuart and I had to take a nap later but the boys never seemed tired at all.  After the nice nap and after I went grocery shopping, we headed over to the Kaos for the afternoon.  It had been awhile since we saw them, so it was great catching up with Michelle and Ted.  The boys brought their 4 square ball to play with Marcus, and later with Mckayla too, the four of them just ran around all over the backyard until it was almost time for dinner.  After we enjoyed the meal, the kids rushed over to play Mario Kart and had a good time.  The evening was fun but we had to leave before bedtime would be too late.

Art Show Preparation

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on Art Show Preparation

image   The school’s Open House will be in a couple of weeks, and there is so much work to get the classes’ Art Vistas projects ready.  Since there will also be an art show during the Open House, the parent volunteers have extra work to prepare.  Out of the 6 projects we did throughout the year, we have to pick one from each kid to show at the Art Show and one to show in the classroom.  So last week, two moms from Connor’s class came over to sort through all the projects with me.  Connor was enjoying having them over and he helped us wrapping up at the end.  What was hard was that I had to go on and spend another 1.5 hours to work on Logan’s class projects too.  Since the mom from Logan’s class and I could not find time to work together, I had to sort through the projects while that mom would do the mounting for the show.  I had also made the teacher name signs last week, and now within the next week, I have to make 57 “paper bag portfolio” for each of the kids in both classes to hold their remaining art projects.  I need to remember about all these work in case I dare to sign up for this volunteering post again next year.

Weekend at Napa

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on Weekend at Napa

The timing was not the best as I was away the previous weekend, but I had agreed few months ago to join a group of friends for a quick weekend trip.  So early Saturday morning I left Stuart and the boys to meet up with everyone at Revital’s house.  We took two cars, and the drive up to Napa went by fast while we chatted.  We checked into this beautiful hotel and headed for a quick bunch.  Then we all reported to the spa facility for our scheduled treatments.  This was where we spent the next few hours hanging out and relaxing.  I started with the 50 minutes massage which felt so good that I was not ready for it to end.  Next we hung out in the sauna and the steam room to chat.  I also stayed at the pool to read and ended up taking a nap.  Later we also took our time having some wine and cheese in our room, and taking a short walk up to the vineyard before we made plan for dinner.  We finally decided to use the hotel shuttle to go to Downtown Napa for a delicious dinner.  By the time we returned to the hotel, all of us were exhausted and divided ourselves up into our two rooms to go to bed.  A couple of us ended up watching a movie on TV and went to sleep a bit later.

I woke up at early hour on Sunday as usual but stayed in bed to read until others were up.  When we were all ready, we went for a big buffet bunch and got ourselves stuffed with food.  This hotel was very nice and we definitely did not spend enough time there, but we had to keep our plan for wine tasting at Gloria Ferrer.  Honestly by then I was full and not as kin to drink more, but it was still nice to sample some wines in this beautiful place.  We hung out a bit longer and wrapped up our girls weekend get-away.  It was a cool weekend relaxing and spending time with everyone, but I was definitely ready to come home and spend the rest of the day with Stuart and the boys.
