A Break at Home

The boys were out of school on Friday.  We initially planned to pay a visit to the grandparents, but unfortunately they were sick and we had to postpone the trip.  Since I was just getting over the longest cold I ever had, ie 1.5 weeks, I used these four days off we had to recuperate.  We mainly stayed near the house and just did a few things.  We finally took my car in to change the tires.  We were happy that our neighborhood plaza opened up a hangout place; it is a boba tea shop.  We made a couple of trips for drinks and snacks there during the break.  Connor likes their chocolate milkshake and the fried lobster balls, and Logan only cared to have their french fries.  We also enjoyed watching the last two final Warrior games, and we were happy for the victory.  The boys also spent a great deal of time out on the street playing with the neighbors.  One of the neighbors have a ping pong table and a foosball table in their garage, so they also spent some times there.  Saturday night was the boys’ favorite as they had a crowd playing “kick the can” and “capture the flag”.  There were 15 kids in all out there, and it was certainly a late night for our boys.  Finally I was better and we were able to play tennis on Monday to get some exercise.

Open House (late post)

I forgot to mention that the boys had an open house on 5/23/17.  We first headed over to the Superdome to check out the Art Show.  The Art Vistas leads along with the volunteer parents did a great job displaying an art piece from every student in the entire school, and they even had a middle school band playing instruments there to add to the ambient.  It was a great turn out at the show.  Next we headed over to the each of the boys’ classrooms to look at all the nice work they had gone throughout the years.  I was able to capture a picture of the boys with their teachers.

End of Year Parties

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on End of Year Parties

Logan had two field trips during the last two weeks of the school.  One was an ice skating party which was for the entire 3rd grade.  Apparently Logan did not skate at all as he said he did not like it, and instead he had fun hanging out with Maxim hanging out there in the waiting area.  The next field trip was going to the planetarium, and Logan enjoyed watching the show.  I did not volunteer at either of the field trips.

For Connor, their class had their end of the year party at the park next door.  I was feeling a bit better then, so I took a longer lunch to check out their fun.  Connor was happy to see me, and wanted me to stay near him while he played.  The kids played different activities and loved the sundaes they were served.

Just like that, the year had ended and the boys are now 4th and 2nd graders.

Chess Class

It was Logan’s last weekly chess class on Thursday, and he came home with a trophy.  He was the winner of his lower level during the tournament.  He was very happy with the prize.  However when we asked if he liked the chess classes, he still says not really as he did not like the one day where he had to take a written test.

A Long Week

Posted By Bonnie Comments Off on A Long Week

I have been sick this entire week, and this is lasting way too long.  I didn’t like to call in sick if I could help it, so each day this week I forced myself through calling all the patients.  The headache, dizziness and body aches have been the worst symptoms.  By the end of each day, I was exhausted, and sometimes felt horrible that I had to crawl into bed.  I had not been able to think about dinners, so Stuart had to take over and get the boys ready to bed later as well.  The boys were cute; they came check on me sometimes.  One night when i was very congested as well; Logan suggested I rinse my nose like he does for his allergies.  He also reminded me to breathe through my mouth, and he tucked another pillow under me to pop me up.  Connor told me to relax and be well the next day.  Yesterday Stuart dropped the boys off to Rohan’s house to play, and I am skipping out on dinner with my girlfriends tonight.  I did feel slightly more awake today, and I am really hoping to be better by tomorrow.  I can’t imagine working another day being sick.

P.s. The only good thing during this time was that I had a good book accompanying me.
