As usual we look forward to Tennis Saturday.  Now an hour of tennis does not seem enough, so we usually try to go a bit early before the boys’ lesson.  The four of us played together for a bit before the boys moved to their class.  Then Stuart and I played some games.  I lost to Stuart this past Saturday with 2:6 and I had a little comeback with the second incomplete set 2:0. 

    We thought about the old movie The Karate Kid the other day, so we watched it on Saturday.  Both boys could relate a bit to the movie because of their martial arts and I enjoyed this movie as much as they did as well.  After the movie, Connor wanted to get better with his martial arts, and started practicing the moves “Wax on..wax off..breathe in..breathe out”.

     Logan was invited to go to Kayvon’s house to play on Sunday.  Logan and I decided that we would ride bikes around the neighborhood for some exercise before we ride to Kayvon’s house.  It was interesting that Logan was more talkative when we rode near each other, and we chatted a bit.  He also timed where we were riding so we could get to his playdate.  He was proud that he is punctual and he called himself the “No Late Man”.  After dropping Logan off and chatting with the mom, I rode to meet Stuart and Connor at the high school where they were playing basketball.  After I joined them for awhile, we headed over to our local farmer market.  I rode the bike and the other two drove.  Afterward I had to ride home.  By the end of Logan’s playdate, I also rode to pick Logan up, and Logan asked to ride around the neighborhood before we headed home.  I had some good time on my bike that day.

     On Sunday night, I went out with the girls to celebrate Julie’s birthday.  We had a good time eating and catching up.  At home, the boys played with Cole for awhile until it was pizza time.  Then Stuart watched the Warriors with the boys until Connor fell asleep.

    It was testing week at martial arts, but Logan was short by 2 lessons and Connor by 1 lesson.  So last weekend, they went to the make up classes.  By Tuesday, they both were approved and had enough class credits.  I was able to get to the class just in time for the testing.  All the kids did the required moves together while only the first row kids were being tested.  Logan and Connor were there in the front.  It was hard for me to see through the rows of kids, but the boys seemed to do well with all the moves and with strong kicks.  Next the instructors gave the boys comments and things to work on.  Finally the boys earned their new belt and now onto the new level, green belt.

      Since Logan bought a scooter, Stuart ended up being the one using Logan’s skateboard most of the time.  Stuart often takes both scooters while riding the skateboard to school to pick up the boys.  At least a couple days a week I try to rush home to pick up the kids together.  Instead of carrying the scooter, I started riding it to school also.  Stuart and I must be the oldest on a skateboard and scooter in the neighborhood .  After picking up the kids, the boys on the scooter, Stuart on the skateboard and I on foot would enjoy our homeward bound.

    One incidence happened this week.  Connor was going way ahead of Logan and Stuart, and somehow he fell down.  He hit his chin, forehead and his knee; he was all scraped on all those areas.  He just complained being hurt, but he did not cry at all.  Connor did not tell us how it all happened, but we suspected that he was just going too fast.  This was the first time Connor fell from the scooter.  One saving grace was that the fall happened after Picture Day at school.

    We had made a few additions to the house recently.  We added a small computer table in the game room for the boys’ laptops.  We put up some game / kid posters to decorate the game room’s wall.  I did not like the previous wall art for the dining room, so we changed to a larger one.  We put up the pictures we took from our cruise.  We got rid of the old wooden lounge chairs in the backyard and replaced with some different seating.  These little changes were fun.

    There was this little plant in our backyard that we had to remove when we first moved in to this house (5 years ago).  We removed it to allow the climbing structure to be placed, but since the plant was still alive, we just decided to plant it to the far right end of the side yard.  This plant actually enjoy the heat generated from the exterior of the house, and it has been growing bigger and bigger.  Out of the blue this weekend, Stuart discovered this big red fruit hanging from the plant and he told me to check it out.  It was a pomegranate!  This was the only ripe one from the tree, and there was another green one.  I was so excited to take the red one down, cut it open and tried it out.  It was sweet and delicious, and only Connor and I enjoyed this unexpected crop we had from our yard.

    Connor had the second class on Sunday.  He was excited to go after how much fun they had at the first one.  After I dropped him off, the rest of them used the 2 hours to catch up on things.  Logan and Stuart spent some time reviewing schoolwork while I put away the boys’ old school paperwork.  Then Logan and Stuart went for a short bike ride, and I put up the Halloween spiders.  We were productive while Connor was gone and having fun.
