Connor was invited to his classmate Juliet’s birthday party on Friday night.  Connor was very excited to find out the guest list and he immediately wanted to attend.  The party was at their backyard and they would be watching a movie Captain Underpants.  When Connor and I arrived, a few girls kept calling out “Connor is here”, and Connor went off to play with them right away, so I quickly left to go home to watch the game.  This was an important game, Warriors vs Rockets.  The whole game was so tense and Warriors finally pulled up just in time at the end to take the win.  Fortunately the game ended before I had to go pick Connor up.  The movie had ended when I arrived.  Connor was hanging out with the only 2 other boys and few other girls, and he was not ready to go home yet.  So some parents and I had a chance to share the joy of the game and chitchatted a bit.  Connor had a good time watching the movie and hanging out with his friends.

     For Thuy’s birthday in May, instead of our usual dinner, we thought we would do something different.  Theresa organized this great outing, Paint and Wine night, last Sunday for us.  She and Julie also arranged and picked up our dinner for all of us as well.  When we arrived at the studio, our party was the only group which was great.  We first spent some time eating and catching up.  Half an hour later, the painting portion began; for the next two hours, the instructor led us steps by steps to complete our painting.  The process was fun, and it was quite therapeutic to me.  At the end, all of us had made a beautiful wonderful painting.  When I came home, the boys liked my painting too.

    The 2017 rewards from work came very late, almost a year late, but I am very happy that I got this one as well.  So this means I have received good patient survey scores for the first 2 years in a roll since I moved to San Jose.  This recognition definitely means a lot to me.

    Having Buddy brought out the lovely protective side of Logan.  Logan has been very careful with Buddy.  He keeps an eye on Buddy and reminds us to take him out for potty.  He reminds me to put a leash on Buddy when it is dark, so I won’t lose sight of him.  If I let Buddy wonder farther away, Logan gets nervous that Buddy could escape from our backyard.  Logan wants to feed Buddy when it is time to eat.  Once Logan also volunteered to babysit Buddy for 30 minutes during his first week while Stuart took Connor back to school.  Logan was a bit stress afterward, but we were very proud of him for willing to do it.

   Buddy is jumpy when he is excited or when he is curious.  Connor is a bit nervous at him sometimes, so Logan helps protect Connor as well.  If Buddy walks toward Connor while he sits on the couch, Logan would put his arm out to block Connor in case Buddy jumps up.  When we are eating dinner, Logan always keeps a close eye on Buddy to make sure he does not stand up by our table or attempt to look at our food.  Logan also reminds us that Buddy has only been with us for a short time, so we have to be patient with his training.  It is very nice to see this great side of Logan.

    Connor has been wanting to save his hair long and refusing to cut it for awhile.  He likes having his hair over his eyes.  His hair however looks quite messy to us.  We finally convinced Connor to get a trim and I promised that I would make sure the hairdresser would not shorten his bangs.  We went to a local place, and the lady did exactly what we asked her and plus some trimming of Connor’s big full head of hair.  Connor was happy afterward; he was pleased that his hair was still long, and in an more organized fashion. 

    I went to school on Monday for my last science lab for Logan’s class.  The topic this time was the respiratory system.  The class discussed the different parts of the respiratory system, and the kids were given a balloon model to demonstrate the interaction between lungs and diaphragm.  The second half of the class, the instructors showed the kids a healthy pig lung and how much it expanded when air was pumped into it.  Then they showed a pig lung that was exposed to smoke for 30 days.  This lung, not only looked black, it did not expand as much.  The show-and-tell was quite graphic; it was a bit much for a couple of kids, but hopefully it would make an impression in kids about smoking.
