This was what the boys were doing last week when they had spare time.  Connor was writing nice letters to each one of us while Logan was making cool mazes.  They both were proud of their work.  Connor wanted me to keep mine in safe place or hang it up, and Logan asked Stuart to make copies so I could take to my coworkers to try his maze.

    We had stopped signing up the boys for team sports but we decided to sign them up for a weekly basketball lesson just for fun.  It started last Monday following the spring camp.  Stuart picked them up from camp, changed them and took them to the gym within the same building.  Stuart just hung around in the building during this one hour of lesson.  He watched them periodically.  The boys were separated in two different age groups and they seemed to be doing fine and participating.  Stuart observed Connor making some baskets even though the hoop was higher.  At the end of lesson, Logan gave it a good remark but Connor only gave it  5 stars out of 10.  We think that he gave it a low score as there was something he was not pleased with the team he was in, but at the end, he seemed to enjoy it and did not mind that it is a recurring thing.

   This past week was the Spring Break from school.  Since Stuart and I did not have time off from work, we had signed the boys up for a spring camp at the local recreation center.  When I dropped them off on Monday morning, both of them were hesitant and asked about the time being picked up.  The slight sadness on their faces were making me worried and sad all day at work.  At the end of the day, as Stuart and I had previously expected, the boys had a good time at the camp.  They shared about the art and craft projects and indoor gym activities they did there, and they gave the day 9 stars out of 10.  They both had met one other boy at camp and seemed to have hang out together as four-some majority of the time.  On Tuesday and Wednesdays, their days were pretty much filled with other indoor activities and they gave it 9 or 10 stars as well.

    On Thursday it was a field trip day to the Oakland Zoo.  The kids had fun looking at some animals and shared some animal activities they saw with us.  The best part of the day for both was at the gift shop and they were excited to show the toys they bought.  Connor seemed to be fine during the bus ride as he was playing with the stuffed animal he bought with his friend.  Logan, on the other hand, reported that the bus ride was the least fun part of the day as he had nothing to do.  It turned out that Logan was bored since his friend fell asleep and he did not.

    The last day of camp was like other non-field trip days with indoor activities.  The boys enjoyed the last day as well, and at the end, one boy gave the camp 9 stars and the other gave it 10 stars.  In addition, Connor brought home a certificate as he received the “Camper of the Week”.  He said he received the reward for listening well and following instruction without any reminders.  He earned himself a bag of chips to enjoy while watching a movie there.

    Stuart was sick for the past few days, but fortunately he was a bit better this weekend.  We felt that we had been behind with chores in the house, so on Saturday morning we all spent some time cleaning.  Logan helped Stuart vacuum the house, Connor picked up and put away things, and Stuart and I also did many loads of laundry.  It felt great now that the house is cleaner and Stuart almost shook off this cold.  On Sunday Stuart was better that we played some tennis.  Logan had good energy again, and both boys had great hits.  They did not play as long this time and they moved out to the basketball court to play 2 squares.  Stuart and I had a chance to play on our own, and had some good hits and exercise.

    Connor had an eye exam on Friday; this was a follow up after his first exam for the headache last year.  Currently Connor does not seem to have any vision issues, but we kept the appointment just to be sure.  The appointment was late afternoon; I got out of work on time and met Stuart and the kids at the optometry office.  The optometrist was punctual and took Connor and I into the exam room.  He was definitely not good with kids, but fortunately Connor did an awesome job doing what he was asked and answering all the questions.  He also had the best smile every time looking up at me.  The exam was very brief as the optometrist just said Connor does not require any eyeglasses.  Since I know that Connor is able to see well, I was fine that the exam was brief.  By the time we walked out, Stuart was still waiting to be called to have Logan’s eyeglasses adjusted.  Since we happened to run into old friends there in the optometry, we all sat and chatted while we waited. 

    We all agreed to go play tennis on Sunday morning.  At the beginning Logan somehow got himself into a grumpy mood and was being very lazy with his swings.  I lost my patience watching him and told him off that he must have played too much video games.  Logan then perked up and became full of energy.  He asked to play solo, so I took a snack break watching him against Stuart and Connor.  As Logan started making some hits, he became more hyper.  He was running back and forth, and kept the balls going on the court.  The more hyper he was, the better he was hitting, and the more energized he became.  Stuart, Connor and I were amazed watching this unusual Logan, and wondered when he would run out of energy.  However he did not seem to want to stop and had some great rally with Stuart.  I finally demanded to return to court, and Logan and Connor then were done with tennis.  But instead of taking a break, they went out to the basketball court to play 2 squares.  We told Logan how great he was playing, and how cool seeing his energy out there.  He told us that it was his angry energy.  I guess we will have to get him angry more often.
