This is the last week of Pre-Kindergarten for Connor, and therefore today and tomorrow will be the last two days of uniforms as he will not need them for the summer school.  Two years of uniforms for each boy are coming to an end soon.  Therefore this morning I suggested to take a picture of him at drop off, and Connor was more than happy to pose and gave me many more than I asked for.

     We received this drawing from school today; the left side was drawn by Connor October last year and the right side was from a few days ago.  The comparison was so neat to see!  We had fun studying them tonight at dinner.

     Logan’s desk was completely covered by his Legos and it was out of control.  Therefore, we made a trip to Ikea to buy a shelf that Stuart found online, and we decided to buy a different one for Connor as well.  Stuart spent some time yesterday putting them together.  Connor wanted to help while his was being put together, so he sorted through all the nuts and bolts for daddy.  Logan was excited for his too, but he just asked daddy when it would be ready.  Both of them were very happy when we put the newly built shelves in their rooms, and they were in charge putting things on there themselves.  Logan moved every single piece of Lego carefully and categorized them onto different levels on the new shelf.  He loves his Lego corner.  In addition, both Logan and I are happy that he has an open desk again.  We now have a place to put his work and a place for him to write too.

    We spent 2.5 hours at the cabana club this afternoon and we had a great time.  Logan is still nervous and he is not as willing to put his head in the water like he did last year.  But he is getting a little more comfortable over time.  Connor also made a little progress; he is finally trying to put his head in water on his own now and could stay for a few seconds.  Even though these are little steps, we are very happy to have them.

    After swimming, the boys wanted to play in sand.  While they played there for a long time, Stuart and I hit a volleyball around on the lawn and later tossed a football too.  It was fun and we had a good exercise.  When we were done and tired, Logan then told us he wanted to play volleyball too and he asked us to move to the sand.  Running on sand was an extra workout.  Finally we all took a break on the lawn to have another snack and Stuart even fell asleep. 

    We can’t believe a whole year has gone by and Logan is on to 2nd grade soon.  His last day of school was on Thursday.  After school that day, Logan brought home all his school supplies, the last of his school work, a birthday card and a birthday pencil for his summer birthday along.  We were also excited to see that he also had his last trimester report card.  Logan performed well; he achieved “At or Exceeds grade level standard” in every category on the report card, all the academic areas and his efforts / behaviors.  Last week, he also brought home the first yearbook from this new school, and it helped remind us all the main events that happened.  It was a good year for Logan at his new school.

    The boys have been interested in playing baseball lately; we have been playing in our backyard after school the past few days.  The boys would set up the four bases and ask both Stuart and I to play with them.  They bat quite well now that we often have to search for the soft balls inside the shrubs up on the hill.  Today Stuart figured out how to get the NBA Final on Roku, so we had a chance to watch it during dinner and until bedtime.  The boys got so excited with basketball that they asked to play in the yard during halftime.  I filmed the video when they first started playing.  Connor was very determined to keep up with daddy and Logan, so he kept trying even when I returned to the house to watch the game.  Later when Connor came in, he told me that he had improved as he was practicing.  He also told daddy that he wants to play again tomorrow.

     Last week we received a notice that Connor would have his spotlight at school today.  Since his birthday is in the summer, the teacher wanted to make sure Connor would not get left out.  Connor was so excited about this.  He filled out the school paper to share his favorite things, and gathered his baby picture, family picture and one of his favorite books to bring to school.  He had been counting excitedly everyday until today.  He even worried about what I chose for him to wear during his spotlight.  I went to work very early this morning so that I could leave on time for this event.

    That afternoon I drove into school while the class was playing at the playground.  Connor was thrilled to see me and kept calling “mommy mommy” across the fence.  I walked in and followed the kids into the classroom, and they proceeded with the spotlight.  Connor proudly sat on the chair next to the teacher while the rest of the class sat on the rug.  The teacher talked about Connor’s favorite things, shared his pictures with the class, and they sang a song to Connor.  Then Connor picked five friends to carry each of the five pretend candles.  (By the way, Connor was prepared and had selected his friends last night while I brushed his teeth.)  Connor went up to the friends to pretend blowing at the candles, and the friends hugged Connor and said “Thank you for being my friend”.  It was cute.  Afterward the teacher read the book Connor brought, Frozen, to the class.  At the end, I took some group pictures, and Connor and I said goodbye to everyone.

    Now with this behind us, Connor began to prepare for Logan’s upcoming birthday.  He wrote a birthday wish on the easel for Logan and found a box to start collecting little things to give to him.
