Hanging Out with Grandparents

Stuart discovered that one of our local parks has a lower basketball hoop, so after playing at home for awhile, the grandparents and us all went for an outing there.  After a short walk, we arrived at the courts and both kids were excited to play with Stuart.  I took some pictures and a video, then I jumped in to play with them.  We played two on two; I paired with Connor as per his request.  Connor was very happy to have the procession of the ball whenever we passed to him and he tried his best to play along.  Logan was quite assertive guarding and shooting; he was having a great time too.  It was a lot of fun playing our family game and we even had some great laugh.  Once Stuart tried to pass the ball between my legs and it got stuck there; both boys cracked up and so did we.  After a game of 30 minutes or so, I was hot and needed a break.  All three boys needed just a quick break for water and snacks, and they were back on the court again.  After basketball, the boys played at the structure for a little bit before we all headed home for lunch.

Stuart finished the final touches on our new dome climbing structure, so the boys got to try it out after naptime.  Grandma, the boys and I were in the yard for quite awhile; after playing at the dome, the boys and I played with T-ball as well.  Grandpa and Stuart had a chance to sit down and enjoy their World Cup time in the meantime.  Afterward, grandparents treated us to a nice dinner out and everyone had a great meal.  Reading with grandma wrapped up our Saturday.

The First Day of Summer Break

Stuart had to work today, so I decided to take the boys to see a movie.  The boys were very excited with the plan especially after I agreed that we could buy some popcorn. image We took our time in the morning, even played a couple of board games.  We then headed out to make the 10:15am showing of the "How to train the dragons 2". Both kids had seen the first one and they were happy with our movie selection. I had Connor visited the restroom again after we arrived at the theater so we would not be interrupted during the show.  The three of us settled in in our seats with a blanket and all snuggled in together with a big bag of popcorn to share.  We watched through some commercials and all the previews with Connor asking "is this the movie?" every minute.  The movie finally started and we all enjoyed it.  Logan was content for the entire movie; he snuggled with me every now and then, and I heard no complaints from him at all.  Connor asked me some questions throughout the show and got slightly antsy toward the last 20 minutes.  He seemed to be more content with his first theater experience "Frozen" than this movie.  The battle scene at the end of the movie captured our attentions, so the boys did well til the end.  Afterward, we went grocery shopping to prepare for the grandparents’ visit.  The boys were too helpful putting things on the cashier belt and later into bags.  Fortunately we did not have any broken eggs or bottles.
After nap, we waited for the arrival of grandparents and the boys were excited.  They were happy to show grandma and grandpa the new things in their rooms and they played afterward.  It freed Stuart and I up to put together the new toy for our backyard.  At bedtime, the boys enjoyed having grandma read books to them as usual.  It was a nice first day off.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school and it was a special event day “Circus Day”.  The boys had been very excited, and they decided to be cowboys.  That meant no more  school uniform for Logan ever again.  Other than the dress-up, Logan was excited to share that he would not need to bring his backpack as there would be no boardwork, no composition, no dictation.

Logan was pleased wearing his costume when we walked into the school, but Connor was a bit shy as he worried that someone would laugh at him.  However once he saw other kids in costumes, Connor became fine.  I took a couple of pictures and let the boys go enjoy their last day.   At the end of the day, I was surprised to find Logan still wearing his costume.  He said goodbye to his afternoon teachers and one of his school buddies.  Logan reported that he had fun today but he did not share much of what they did.  Connor was not wearing his costume when we picked him up.  He told me that he played in the bouncy house, ate a candy and saw Logan in his playground.  Connor gave hugs and said goodbye to his teachers too.  Then we all walked away from the school that Logan had attended for two years and Connor a year.

P.S.  Yesterday Connor received a nice handmade photo album from his teachers which contained many pictures of Connor at school throughout the year.  To our surprise, Logan brought home a yearbook!  I was so excited to look through his very first yearbook.

Wednesday Dinner

The cabana club serves dinner on Wednesday nights, so we decided to give it a try.  Oimagen our drive home from school, the boys were excited with the idea and changed themselves into their swimwear very quickly once we got home.  We walked over and it was nice to see that it was not too crowded.  We got our Mexican dinner and sat down to eat.  Both boys had good appetite and enjoyed their meals.  Then we headed over to the wading pool for them to play.  The boys brought water guns and they had fun playing with another boy who also had one.  Logan was reserved and took awhile before he even got his upper body wet.  We did not end up socializing too much with people but just hung out on our own.  We let the boys play for quite awhile before we went home to clean and tuck in for the night.

Carseat Seatbelts

Something I have to make note of as I enjoy this progress the boys have made….  Logan has been self sufficient with buckling his harness seatbelts for a long time and now Connor has finally caught on too.  Connor is so pleased that he just recently learned to buckle all three fasteners.  It is much easier these days as I can just let the boys in the back and wait in my seat until they declare themselves to be all clicked in.

Cabana Club

We joined our local club for the summer which officially opened this weekend.  We attended the New Member Welcome Party Saturday afternoon, and we all looked forwarded to our first visit.  We arrived and chatted with some people while the boys enjoyed the refreshment being served.  Then we took a walk around the club to check out the different activities.  The boys watched some diving and the sand volleyball for a little bit, then we plaimageyed briefly at foosball and ping pong.  Connor really wanted to play ping pong but it was just too hard for out little ones.  Stuart and I played for a few minutes, and Logan and I managed to play for a little while too.  By then Connor asked to go into the water, so Stuart took him to hit the wading pool.  He had fun hanging out there.  It took Logan awhile before he decided to join in, and they both had fun.  After our over an hour visit, we cleaned up to head out so we could make Connor’s soccer practice.

This was a perfect weekend for the club opening as we had another hot day.  We planned to return today so all of us could go swimming this time.  When we arrived, the wading pool was closed which was fine as we were heading to the big pool.  Both boys did not get hesitate to get in.  Logan was still a bit nervous especially if one of his hands were not holding on to us, otherwise, he was having fun in the water.  Connor was more relaxed and enjoyed jumping down from the poolside into us.  We took a snack break and we were back in the water again.  Later we played catch with a small beach ball.  Being in the water for an hour and a half, I was exhausted and suggested to get ready to go.  Connor and I went out first to clean up.  While Logan and Stuart continued to play catch, Logan slid under the water when he tried to reach the ball, and he was inside the water for a few seconds while Stuart fished him back out.  Logan was not happy but did not get too freaked out; he just said that he did not want to play catch in the water again.
