As Stuart and Logan go to Little Gym on Fridays now, Connor and I have been spending an hour just the two of us each week.  Connor usually gets sad when we say bye to Daddy and Logan, but he will recover quickly.  We usually go shopping at Costco, grocery store or Target, and pick up dinner for all of us.  Connor likes looking around; when we were at Costco yesterday, he kept pointing to their big displays and said “Wow!”.  He is now interested in the samplings they offer there, and he is willing to try different things.  He also loves helping me push the cart too.  Once in awhile, we might return to Little Gym toward the end of the class to watch Logan.  Connor got very excited to see Daddy there, and loved running around in the waiting room.

    This morning Logan was chatty while we drove to school; he randomly brought up topics.  He started with “when is mommy’s day?”, so I reminded him that it has passed and we went to the beach.  Then I told him about the upcoming Father’s Day, and I asked him if we should do something special on that day.  Logan thought about it, then said “Let’s buy some bread and share with daddy”. 

    Connor and I were spotting school buses during the drive, then Logan said he wanted to see fire engine instead.  I told him that fire engine only comes out when there is an emergency.  So Logan suggested that “let’s crash our car, then the fire engine will come”.  It was good that Logan understands what fire engines do, but I had to explain to him how scary it would be to be crashed and how hurt we could be.  So then he said “no, we don’t want big owie”. 

    Then out of the blue, Logan said “Mommy, you should go to the gym and come back all wet”.  He is teasing me about being sweaty when I come home from the gym. 

    This other thing happened two weeks a day when I tried on an outfit and asked Logan if he liked it.  He just said he liked it without even looking up from his toys.  So I told him off, then he just took a quick look and said “Beautiful!”  I was so surprised with the word he used, and also how he blew me off at this age already.  Typical male.

     Logan is now back to full time “daddy boy” again.  This past week, he has stopped asking for me to read him bedtime stories, so it has been going quite smoothly after bath now, no more crying or whining from anyone.  Connor loves to go with me, and Logan stays in bath to play while waiting for daddy.  As usual if Logan wakes up in the middle of the nights (from nightmares), he always asks for daddy only.  Connor is totally opposite; he always calls for mama.

    Funny thing is that Connor had started singing a little song of “dada” the past week.  He sings this tune out of the blue occasionally, and sing it loudly each time. 

    We attended Caleb’s birthday party on Saturday morning at a local park.  We had never been to this park, and it was a very nice one.  It had many climbing structures, tennis courts, basketball courts and big grassy fields.  The party was short and sweet, but we hung out to play around until lunch time to go pick up some lunch.  After nap, we did some errands, i.e. getting the boys haircuts and Target shopping.  The boys sat through their haircut surprisingly well.  No tears and not even a complaint.  Both cuts are a little short but make them look very neat.

     Stuart worked until 3am last night, so we tried to let him sleep in the morning while I played with the boys.  We then got ready and took off for another soccer practice today.  There were fewer kids there than usual and Logan did quite well, becoming one of the most cooperative kids today.  Afterward, we all had a picnic lunch, then went to play at the structures.  Logan went around the structures a lot while Connor was content playing and piling up the mulches.  Logan was the one that decided it was time to go home, so we packed up to leave.  As a treat to Connor and myself, I decided to let Connor nap with me.  Connor was so excited that he kept kissing me and using his bear bear to kiss me too.  He was quite jumpy that I had to threaten him to calm down or return to his bed, so he calmed down and went to sleep.  It was fun sleeping with him as he was very cuddly. 

     We talked with our neighbors for a little bit after nap, then decided to take a walk to get some frozen yogurt.  Logan was very excited; he enjoyed sharing the bowl with Daddy.  Logan was so cute because he was taking very tiny bites throughout the entire bowl.  Connor was intrigued too, but after just one little taste, he decided that he did not want any at all; he was content with the snack I brought for him instead.  We walked around at the nearby shop, then returned home to start the barbeque for dinner.  We played in the backyard while we did the cooking.  Logan and Connor both played at the sandbox for awhile, then Logan moved on to tossing a tiny football with daddy while Connor continued to play in the sand happily by himself.  After the enjoyable smoked salmon dinner, the kids played separately then again together before bath and bedtime to end the day.

      Last night was another night of poor sleep for Connor.  He woke up at 10:30pm from a cough spell.  Stuart tried sitting him up to sleep to avoid coughing, but it was unsuccessful, so we put Connor in a steamed room for awhile and did some suctioning.  He did not want to go back to his crib, so we finally agreed to let him sleep with us.  The rest of the night was on and off and he started coughing again early morning.  Other than the cough and the runny nose, Connor was doing ok.

    The school had their annual spring breakfast this morning.  I happened to have a day off from my regular busy clinic today, and so it gave me the opportunity to take my time at school.  Logan enjoyed some pancakes and Connor had some watermelon while we sat in a circle with a few of Logan’s friends and parents.  After some chit-chatting and eating, the boys were ready to go play.  Logan and his friends immediately went to play at the structure; Connor followed their lead and enjoyed his chance to play at the big kids playground.  The cute thing was that Logan and his friends were all very kind to Connor, helping him up or giving him hugs at times.  As more people arrived to the breakfast, the playground became more crowded, so I had to keep even closer attention to avoid Connor being run over by bigger kids.  Logan and his friends were playing with a few kinder boys; they were getting wild, running after each other.  Finally it was time for me to go, so I took Connor back to the toddler playground and said bye to Logan.

    I arrived at the dental office in good timing even before Stuart did.  Stuart and I happened to have the same date and time for our appointments.  Stuart was there for dental cleaning while I was there for the implant follow up.  After the appointment, I went to work doing some projects.  It was fun going to a different site and catching up with other coworkers. 

     At 3pm, I received a call from school to report a fever of 100.8 for Connor.  Apparently he was very tired before nap, not eating much of his lunch, then slept for almost 3 hours.  So the teacher decided to check his temperature as he was looking more flushed too.  The teacher did say that Connor was still in good mood.  I arrived school before 4pm to pick both kids up.  Connor was looking well as normal.  After we were home, we played in the front yard for awhile and took a walk; then Stuart and Logan took off to go to the gym class.  Connor and I decided to eat dinner first.  Connor had his usual appetite; we had fun playing while we ate.  After dinner, we played with puzzles, blocks, then we returned to the table for some fruits.  When the other boys returned home, we all sat at the dining table again for Stuart and Logan to eat this time.  We played after dinner briefly before bath time.  The entire evening, Connor never felt warm and was doing well.  His cough was still there, but slightly less frequent.  He went to sleep well; hopefully he will not wake up coughing again.

     Connor started with a runny nose on Tuesday during his day off with mommy, but he was doing fine otherwise.  That morning, his conjunctivitis was already almost cleared after having several doses of the eye drops.  We had a good day together.  We took a walk to a park in the morning, and Connor had fun playing in the structures.  We had lunch at home, sharing a veggie dip too which was something Logan would never do with me.  After nap, we went shopping at Target. 

     The next day, Connor was still doing well except still having the runny nose and began to have a cough.  As Connor has been well the past month, we totally forgot that this little guy tends to have bad coughs with any colds.  He started coughing a lot at 11:30pm last night.  His cough was so bad that Connor got woken up and cried.  Stuart gave him water, but did not help.  We tried carrying him to sleep or letting him lay down in our bed, but neither worked as he was still coughing a lot and could not get comfortable.  Stuart finally did some spraying and suctioning on him, and the coughing eventually calmed down; Stuart then put Connor back to his crib where he slept the rest of the night. 

    The teacher told me today that Connor was coughing a lot during the nap too.  At dinner tonight Connor was trying to eat his dinner but he could not stop coughing.  It was quite sad to watch him.  Robyn and I talked about honey during work today, so I gave Connor some to try after dinner.  He was reluctant to taste it initially but then loved it and wanted more.  I gave him a dose at bedtime; let’s hope that it will do the trick to give Connor a good night sleep tonight.
