Our neighbors brought over little Easter gifts for the boys, so it reminded us what we used to do in Easter.  I don’t think we did an egg hunt for the boys last year, but this year they asked for one.  So on Saturday night, we quickly put together some eggs with treats, coins and messages.  Connor was really looking forward to it that he came straight to our room Sunday morning to say good morning and let us know how excited he was.  After breakfast, Stuart hid the 30 eggs in the backyard.  As soon as everything was ready, the boys rushed out to search.  The last few eggs were tougher to find; with the hints Stuart gave, the boys were able to find them all.  They looked through their loots; they were happy to receive some special eggs and some “rotten” ones too.  The boys however told us that we should have a 100 eggs for next year.

    In the late afternoon, while Stuart was barbequing, the boys decided to hide a few eggs for Stuart and I to hunt.  This was actually the first hunt that I was ever officially in and I had fun searching.  Connor enjoyed hiding eggs for me too so we played another round.  It was indeed quite fun.

    With the previous rainy days, the coach had to double up the lessons on Saturday to make up for the missed classes.  Thus, Connor’s lesson was from 10-12 and Logan’s was from 12-2.  Stuart had to take his car in for maintenance, so I dropped Connor off to his class before picking Stuart and Logan off from the auto shop.  Connor was a bit nervous on the way over as he knew that his class would do a tournament.  After the three of us did our errand and packed a lunch, we returned to the court to play tennis on our own.  Shorty after we arrived, Connor signaled me to meet him at the fence to tell me that he won the tournament and got first place.  It was relatively hot on Saturday, so I felt more tired from playing in the heat, but Connor and his classmates seemed to be doing well practicing until end of the lesson.  Afterward, the kids followed the coach out to his van to pick up their prizes.  Other than handing out a certificate of completion and a tennis souvenir, the coach also presented Connor with a trophy for winning the tournament and the rest of the kids with a medal.  Connor was so happy for this award and hurried back to the court to show daddy and Logan.

     Next it was Logan’s turn.  His class was smaller and had only three kids.  The coach had them practice their serves and did some cool drills.  Since more playtime with the smaller class and the warmer temperature, Logan told me a few times through the fence that he might not last two hours.  Even for us, we stopped just short of two hours ourselves as Stuart and I were tired, and Connor as well since he played some more with us.  We went out to pick up some iced cold drinks and return to offer to the coach and the kids.  By then the class was playing a game and the kids were quite engaged including Logan.  Logan served reasonable well, actually the other two kids too, so the game went on quite well without any double fault.  Logan did well rallying but ultimately his team lost to the other team with the coach in it, but everyone had fun playing.  At the end, all three kids earned a certificate and a medal as well.  It was a long tennis day but fun for us all.

    Connor discovered a different kind of race on FitBit a couple of weeks ago and invited all of us and Dora / Gloria to join.  Racing to the first three slots was kind of fun and the interface for the race was cool.  Since then, we have done a few races and all of us are crazily into it.  Between the runner Dora and the little legs of the boys, Stuart and I don’t usually stand a chance to win.  But with the hard work for a few days, I made it to the 3rd place which I was quite happy with it.  This stepping thing has become quite a hobby for us, and it is definitely a good workout too.

    When the boys went to their friend’s house on Sunday morning, Stuart and i went to a nursery to choose some plants for our front yard and did some other shopping as well.  After lunch, since we got rained out at the tennis lesson on Sat, we took the boys out to play tennis.  The boys hit well and we had some good exercise.  When we came home, we went straight to work on the strip of planting area together.  Connor and Logan helped us remove the old mulch, then Stuart dug the holes for me.  Shortly after, Logan went to the backyard to play with Cole, and Connor stayed to help.  Connor and I transferred the plants onto the ground.  We worked hard so I rewarded Connor with an ice cream break.  Afterward, I finished planting with Stuart.  We still have to go buy mulch to re-do the entire front yard, but for now, I think the side of the house is already looking better.

   With this productive day, I was exhausted by the end of the day and my body was aching so much that I had a hard time sleeping too.  Hopefully the plants will survive and grow after the hard work we put in.

    I decided to take 1/2 day off on Friday so I could pick the boys up from school and take them to martial arts.  It turned out that it was also the Spring celebration walkathon, so after the martial arts lesson, the boys and I returned to school for the event.  Maxim had asked and coordinated the same arrival time as us, so as soon as we arrived, Logan joined Maxim to begin their walking.  I had signed up to volunteer; before it was my assignment time, Connor and I looked at the auctions and walked a lap together.  Then from 5pm to the end of the walkathon 6:30pm, I staffed at the prize table and gave little rewards for every 10 laps the kids made.  This was a fun volunteering job; I enjoyed saying hi to the kids passing by and loved seeing how excited the kids were for the little toys they scored.  Connor was so cute; he stopped by to say hi to me like every lap or every other laps.  He had some cash for snacks and once he bought me a bag of M&M too.  Logan and Maxim were working hard to make laps; at the end Maxim really wanted to get to 50 laps and he did it.  Logan did great too and made 42 laps.  Connor completed 30 laps too.  Stuart had come join us when he was done with work.  By the time we walked home and ended the day, but the boys had earned 28k and 30k steps for the day.

    We went out to celebrate Theresa and Jennifer’s birthdays at a Japanese restaurant tonight.  We ordered a variety of small dishes and sake to drink; we all enjoyed this delicious dinner very much.  And as usual, it was great chatting and catching up with everyone.
