It had been a long time since Karen and I met up, and we finally made plan for a brunch on Sunday.  We enjoyed a good breakfast and walked next door for some unexpected dessert as well.  The two hours together was great for us to finally get caught up.  While I was gone, the boys played some game, did some of their school work with Stuart, and had lunch.  When I arrived home, the boys had already got inside Stuart’s car as they knew it was time to head to Rohan’s house.  The boys followed Rohan up to their office to play as soon as we got to their house.  Stuart and I sat with Vrinda and Nanda to talk for awhile before we had to head out to shop for a dryer.  We then decided to get a cup of coffee to do some reading before getting back to their house.  We wrapped up our visit there and the boys had a good time as well.

   Since Friday’s opening ceremony, we had been sitting and watching Olympics for at least 2 hours each night.  Logan seems quite into watching all the winter sports.  Connor is interested as well, but only if Warriors are not playing.  He has been checking the game schedules and he asked Stuart to put on the game for them to watch upstairs while Logan and i watched the Olympics downstairs.  Connor also periodically came down to share the score with us.

     We looked forward our 2 hour of exercise on Saturday morning.  While Connor was in the tennis class first, Stuart, Logan and I shot some baskets around as there were no opened tennis courts.  Playing against Stuart and Logan was not easy for me; while I only made one basket, they both had a handful.  We then moved onto tennis later.  When it was Logan’s turn for the class, Connor came play with us and he showed us what he learned in serving.  After Stuart and I became quite tired, Connor wanted to switch to basketball as he heard about us playing with Logan earlier.  So we played some bball together before I was the first to stop from exhaustion.  We caught the last few minutes of Logan’s class, and the four students were playing a double.  Apparently we just missed Logan’s service game and their team won that game.

    In the afternoon, we had initially arranged for two playdates.  We had reciprocated and invited Logan’s classmate Kayvon to come with him.  Connor has been asking to invite his classmate Dylan, so we finally decided to arrange one at the same time on Saturday.  Unfortunately in the morning Dylan’s mom had to cancel since Dylan was not feeling well.  The afternoon turned out ok for Connor as well, as Logan and Kayvon included Connor while they played on the computers.  Later Connor was asked to go play with our neighbor Cole, finally leaving Logan and Kayvon alone.  it was funny that the two boys sat a little distance from each other but were talking non stop through while playing video games.

    This year we skipped a friend’s Superbowl party to go golfing instead.  We wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather and the less crowded afternoon.  The boys were fine with the idea and it was indeed quieter out there.  We just walked up to the first hole of this 9-hole short course to start as soon as we paid.  As usual we had one boy very patient with practice swings and the other just wanted to walk up and hit.  Overall the boys did fine and had some good hits.  They especially did exceptional in one hole that they both got PAR.  Actually all three of them got par in that hole and I had a bogie; the boys were pleased with that. 

   When we finished golfing and arrived home, it was actually close to the halftime show.  We ended up watching the rest of the game closely as it was quite exciting.  The boys got into the game; they had fun cheering for the teams.  As usual, they loved the commercials even more.

   Lately we have become quite a fan for the Warriors.  We are trying to catch most of their games on TV, and dinner while watching Warriors is one of our favorite too.  The boys’ interest however is not only at basketball, they especially enjoy watching the commercials and the entertainment in between games.  Lately with the last few games, we have not been too thrilled with them though; we hope they will step it up again soon.

   This year I am not volunteering with Art Vistas, and I guess I do miss it.  When I heard that this 4th grade lesson needed more parent help, I was more than happy to be there.  The lesson was Friday morning after drop off, so I could sleep in and take the boys to school too.  After saying bye to Connor, I came to the cafeteria to help set up, then the class arrived.  This lesson was a messy project but fun; the kids were to make a plaster mask.  The parent docent went over the steps, and the project began.  Logan paired up with his classroom buddy Kayvon and Logan was up first.  Knowing Logan’s personalities, I know he would not like having the mask made on his face.  Honestly it was a bit daunting to have Vaseline first and then wet plasters all over the face, and at the end being blindfold as well.  Logan was not thrilled and hesitant to let Kayvon put things on him, so I had to go over to them periodically to help speed things up.  Ultimately he reluctantly sat through and let Kayvon finish his mask.  I was amazed at how other kids were being great sports having their face covered, and they also made the masks carefully for their partners.  Some little hair might got pulled off with the masks at the end, but the kids were still all happy.  Next the kids swapped their roles after the masks were off and they briefly cleaned up.  There was a mom standing and helping Kayvon and Logan so I did not really come to them to check on them.  It did look like Logan was assisting even though not taking the active role making the mask for Kayvon.  This was a cool project.  The kids would be able to paint the masks at a later time.
