Brunch with the Neighbors

One of the things in my agenda today was a brunch with the neighbors in the morning.  Several weeks ago the elder neighbor across the street, who I had not yet met, dropped off an invite for the brunch.  She handwrote the invitations and personally delivered them to several female neighbors around our area.  I was hesitant about attending as I don’t know her, but Stuart said I would break her heart for not going.  So I RSVP’ed but was still not too excited to go.  I made some chocolate covered strawberries to bring along with me.  The brunch turned out quite nice.  Mary Lee had made many nice brunch items along with several dishes shared by other neighbors.  She had prepared chairs in a circle in her living room to accommodate all the attendees.  Half of the ladies were in the 70s, and the others are the newer neighbors around my age.  Mary Lee was very social, and she made sure that everyone was introduced.  Most of us knew about half of the people there, and we mingled to learn the others.  Mary Lee was also very organized; she had each of us taking turns, sharing our stories with everyone.  I definitely know my neighbors a lot better now.  One of the ladies imagehas 7 sons and now 12 grandchildren.

Shortly after seeing Stuart pulling the SUV into our garage through the window, I said my thanks and goodbyes then went home.  The boys were all sitting together side by side at the small table, eating their lunches that they picked up.  I asked them where they had been, Logan told me that they went to the beach and inside a rocket.  For the longest time, he insisted on those places were where they had been.  Finally Stuart told me that they were at a park and had fun there.
