Logan had his second visit to the dentist today.  Unlike his first visit six months ago, this time Logan received full service.  It started by taking x-rays of his teeth, then cleaning by the hygienist.  Logan was quite cooperative and even willing to sit on the dental chair by himself as long as I held his hand; the TV in the ceiling definitely helped.  Although he managed to tolerate his first experience of teeth cleaning, he was most reluctant to open his mouth wide for the back teeth cleaning.  The hygienist and I had to do lots of convincing and he mostly complied.  His teeth looked fine, no cavities.  We just have to do a better job brushing his front two teeth and start flossing as well.  We can also switch to toothpaste with fluoride.  The main thing we learned today was that it is time to take away his pacifiers which Logan uses during sleep.  They may be causing a small gap between his top and bottom teeth, but should quickly revert to normal when he stops using them.  We will probably start the weaning over a weekend soon when we shake off this round of family colds.

Logan always loves his trains.  His routine at home is playing with the trains after dinner every evening.  He is now quite good at putting the tracks together, and he is very patient and gentle running the trains on the tracks.  He also will take a train or two with him every morning for the car ride to school.  Now with this new classroom, he gets to play with a train set during the day too.  Every morning when Stuart drops him off at school, Logan most likely will ask the teacher to let him play with the trains before he will decide its ok to let Daddy go.  We are just surprised that he is not tired of them by now.  Tonight while eating his dinner, Logan suddenly pointed his finger to his head and said “Thinking”.  So I asked him what he was thinking about, and he said “My Trains”.

This video was taken a few days ago.  I was going to show Stuart how Connor was not lifting his head yet with tummy time.  Connor not only showed us how he lifted his head, he even turned his head toward the voice of daddy.  Stuart and I think that Connor is advancing faster than Logan was; Logan was probably lazier or maybe he has a bigger head.

A few more funny sayings from Logan the past couple of days.  Logan has been a bit more attached to me lately.  While we were sitting together this morning, I told him that I had to step away for a little bit to pack his lunch.  He immediately said to me “No, Stay!”, and he turned to Daddy and said “Daddy packs lunch”.  At dinner tonight, he asked me to move the plate of bread which I did, then he said to me “Good job, Mommy”.  Yesterday when we were in the car, Logan was calling me several times while I was talking with Stuart.  Before I could respond to him, Logan called me “Bonnie”.  When I asked him what he just called me, he said “Bonnie” again.  He really got my attention there.

Even though Logan does not have too many vocabulary words under his belt yet, he still manages to use them wisely.  Logan is still a picky eater and sometimes when I try to introduce different foods to him, he would just take a look and refuse it.  However, he will say “No thank you Mommy!”  and since he said it so nicely, I have no choice but to stop trying to convincing him to eat it.  The other night at dinner when he wanted more bread, I told him to take another bite of his soup in order to get more bread.  For the first time, he said “I did!!” with hand gesture too to argue with me that he did have a bite already.   I went to pick up Logan from daycare yesterday.  As we accelerated to get onto the freeway, Logan suddenly told me “Too fast Mommy”.  (Stuart says he doesn’t say that to him)

Stuart and Logan will build a new train track every few days.  It is fun to watch them build it together as they would talk about what piece of track to use.  After they decided which one to use, Logan would say “I will get it” and he would go pick up the correct one and fit it onto the track.  While Logan runs his trains, he sometimes likes me to sing the Chuggington (a train cartoon) theme song.  When I asked him to sing with me, he often said “No, Logan plays trains”. 

Also if he doesn’t want to do something we ask, he uses his old standby terms “Too heavy”, “Too hard”, or “I can’t”.  One day we are gonna stop babying him……one day.

Connor turned three months old today; he is growing bigger and changing everyday.  He is more engaging now, he will coo and smile on demand.  He still spits up after each feeding, however he finally stopped crying after feeding which is quite a relief.  He finds his fingers these days and enjoys sucking on them, but will get quite mad when he loses contact with them.  He can’t lift his head yet while on his tummy since I keep forgetting to give him more practice.  Connor continues to sleep in his swaddle over night; we hope to get rid of that probably in a month or two.  He has some kind of bedtime routine now; he will go to bed at a similar time as Logan (around 8 something).  He still wakes up once or twice a night, but the first block of sleep is a solid 6 to 8 hours.  The most important change we are happy about is that Connor is no longer crying a lot in the evenings (previously 6-8pm was the witching hours).  We can actually eat dinner all together now while Connor sits in his bouncer on top of the dining table.  We hope that we didn’t just jinx this by mentioning it.
